2009-08-18- Summer Speaker Event - "A Look at the Morro Castle Disaster -75 Years Later"

Local author/historian Gary Crawford returns to our podium for an illustrated lecture on the events of September 8, 1934, as the 75th commemoration of that fatal cruise draws near. Long-time residents can still recall seeing the smoldering hulk of the once-grand Morro Castle beached at Asbury Park close to Convention Hall. Countless other first responders, boaters, life-guards and "Good-Samaritans" from local shore communities selflessly risked their own lives in a attempt to rescue victims of that fiery tragedy at sea.
